The inner game

June 11th, 2008

(Crossposted at my other blog.)
Last fall, around the time it got too cold to golf anymore, I was feeling pretty discouraged about the game.
It seemed to me that after a year & a half of playing I should have been getting better. Ha. I was as close to breaking 100 at the end of 2006 [...]

Genesee Valley Park

August 23rd, 2007

Rochester’s got three municipal golf courses, and Genesee Valley Park is the one that’s closest to my house. For that reason it’s the course I’ve played the most since I took this game up in the middle of last summer.

So I can take pics when the tour hits Rochester the week after next.
I’m pretty excited! Stay tuned, I’ll post an update if my application is accepted. Or rejected. LOL

Got a par

June 1st, 2007

On a short par three at a municipal park that is 10 minutes from my house.
Came within inches of my first birdie ever . . .

So many courses, so little time . . .

May 23rd, 2007

Last Sunday’s Rochester Democrat and Chronicle included a feature section: Golf Guide ‘07. Here it is online, although fair warning: the D&C puts their stuff behind a firewall after awhile.
The cover story is a compilation of peoples’ favorite holes — i.e., a fantasy course built out of 18 holes from local courses, each nominated by [...]
